Creative uses for AI

AI has become a hot-button issue lately, and opinions on the topic seem mixed. For many people, including me, AI is scary in terms of taking people’s jobs, and generative AI systems, such as ChatGPT and Invideo, are far from kind to the environment. I would suggest, though, that there are some good uses for AI, but creativity is not necessarily one of them.
Some examples of AI include optical character recognition (OCR), text-to-speech (TTS) systems, object recognition systems, and recommendation engines. We can also utilise AI to assist us with specific tasks in the IT world, such as reviewing security logs and identifying errors in programming code.
The majority of creatives are worried about the impact of AI. These concerns are not entirely unjustified, especially when they appear to be being trained on copyrighted material. Even though taking without crediting the original author is not OK, if it can enable you to become a better artist, author, musician, or filmmaker, by analysing your work and telling you where you could improve, is that not a good thing? It can also be used to help with drudge work, such as researching characters, colour grading video, or assisting you in picking the best version of a particular shot when you’re editing video.
Even though clearly, some jobs might go away, there will still be some jobs. The people who still have jobs might be more efficient and better at their jobs. When computers first came into the edit suite, they would have invariably caught some people in the crossfire in terms of not being required.
